Zebras
On Saturn

It is amazing what you can achieve in After Effects with a stack of effects. It takes time to know and master most of them. I knew a few, and for a while, I was pretty much stuck with the same ones until I met this cool animator who showed me a whole new way to approach and use effects.

The whole idea is to use whatever free time you can get to go through each effect and see what each one can do. However, the real fun part comes with the following question: “How can I use this in other contexts?" There’s a sort of nice feeling you get when you use an effect designed for a specific purpose on something completely different. For instance, the Optics Compensation effect is designed to remove lens distortion from footage, but instead, you can use it to spice up a zoom-in effect or parallax.
